Hello IES Santa Barbara Section Members,
We hope that you are well and managing in this very trying time.
For many years now, our Section has operated much like other Sections around the country, with events that are believed to be important, interesting, entertaining, in efforts to enrich our members’ professional lives and personal development. We do not always hit the mark, but we keep on trying to find the way.
Our leadership has come from a small number of our members who are willing to volunteer time and effort to make the Section activities relevant and worthwhile, but this recycling of previous leaders cannot be sustained. We need to have more of our members be willing to help lead the Section.
We are planning to have a Virtual Roundtable on Wednesday, July 22, 5:30 – 6:30 pm to have an open discussion about what our members would like to see in the way of events, and whether we can see more of our numbers participate both in events and in leadership. There is a very real possibility of our Section no longer functioning. It may be that our Section members become a part of the Los Angeles Section which may have some advantages, but also signifies a great loss for us on the Central Coast.
This is not a top-down operation. We exist to provide our Section members with the experiences they would like to have. We want to hear about what directions you would like to see us all take.
Please join us in our Virtual Roundtable on July 22 and tell us what you think.
